Right, wondered if some of you experts could give me some advice. I have a May 2014 registered 899 Panigale. The bike was ran in by its previous owner and had undergone its 600 mile first service July 2014. To date, the bike has done 1,200 miles and wasn't serviced 2015 due to the fact it was barely used. I suppose it's due a service (not milage wise) but in terms of time, just so i keep up with regular service intervals. Would this likely to just be an oil change? Anything else needed to be checked or looked at?
Basically oil and filter. Which isn't just down to mileage as you say. Always worth doing and not exactly expensive really.
What's ducati's price for an oil service? Pretty sure someone posted prices from a Ducati dealership. Can't remember which dealer. Think I was quoted about £300 from Moto Rapido for first service.
Before slagging off a reputable main dealer check that the facts you have been given are correct. The annual service is not just an oil and filter change even when the bike is low mileage and in my experience costs less than £200 and probably a lot less if you do not request 300V synthetic oil as I usually do.
This is the first Ducati I've owned, so I've no idea what to expect cost wise with servicing. Whatever the cost though, it's a small price to pay for the fun and enjoyment the thing gives me!
Yes MR did say "about £300" for first service, I don't know the exact price as yet. But I'll pay it in the knowledge that they'll be checking the bike over. Pretty sure chain tension, and other adjustments are required/checked. Plus I guess it's good to get the ECU scanned to ensure everything is good.
lambs to slaughter comes to mind, surely you can check your chain, my point been if you let them get away with it they will its a oil n filter, prob cost dealer £20 , if you bought the bike off them that's worse again, just getting s1000rr told him first free service otherwise wont buy answer no problem at all , be stronger ffs, lol
I pay around the £150 mark. My dealer has told me that all the services are about that money apart from the desmo.
Ducati Glasgow have fixed cost servicing for the Panigale models of £230.34 inc. VAT. Expensive for what I imagine is basically just an oil and filter change but since they're the closest dealership to me by a long shot I don't really have much choice unfortunately. Jimmy if they charged £20 for parts plus half hours labour then I suspect Ducati wouldn't be the brand it is today. My point is, the cost of the bike, cost of servicing is all relative to the brand. I spent £17000 on a bike so I'm happy to pay the servicing costs if £300 is the average amongst dealers.
understand ric your choice mate but 300 is high , and if you've just give 17k the dealer should be giving you free or lower, good luck with your bike anyway they look great
My bike is out of warranty, I DIY annual service. Print off the service check sheet that can be found in the workshop manual and just follow my nose through that ticking the boxes, checking and changing what needs to be checked and changed. Keep hold of any receipts the file away. Only dodge I will have soon is the 7500 mile service where I will need the service light resetting. On saying that I will let someone far more knowledgeable than me to do the 15000 mile desmo service
£300 sounds a bit excessive,my 899 has had 3 services now and i have not paid more than £200,one thing i have learned during my years of Ducati ownership is that a good relationship with your dealer is invaluable,if you are happy with your dealer stick with them, as when of if things go wrong you want the dealer on your side, over the years i like to think i have built a good relationship with my prefered dealer and it has proved invaluable on more than one occasion. From what people say on here MR are one of the good guys,no harm is asking if they can do you a better deal.
