Setting Idle

  1. Ok, so my bike is pretty sorted, theres always gonna be little bits to do, however, and improvements to make. These are not so important and will get done over time. I do have an urgent issue and this is the idle.

I just cant seem to get it to sit right, I am learning about the flatslides and the Ignitech, but I am hoping someone on here has some further advice.

It kinda sounds like the pistons are in sybc then sounds like its on one cylinder then goes back to two independant thumps, its wierd and just doesnt sound right. Perhaps Im getting a fouled plug I havent checked yet. Once the revs rise its fine, so is it the slow air, slow fuel, air/fuel screw?

Is my only option to get it right to get it dyno'd?

It absolutely flies when its up and running, loving it!

  2. Sev, really that high? I was trying to get it to idle about 1000-1100! Maybe thats why it doesn't like it. I have lightened flywheel too and it spins up fast, as soon as the throttles twisted it seems to run better.
Think a rolling road is on the cards then. Gotta recheck shims first as they will have bed in a little.

    Thanks, will set idle higher.

  3. Mine also likes more than 1000....and I am thinking of a heavier flywheel for a variety of reasons, lumpy idle being one of them.
