  1. Is there anywhere who stocks this oil at all. I can of course order it online, but is anyone aware of anywhere I can go pick some up? Preferably in North/South Yorkshire. 200 miles on the clock and the oil level is on the minimum! Is that right?

  2. Ordered some online...

  3. Is that 200 miles from full oil level to empty???because that would be extreme cause for concern,or quite an evident oil leak.
    what bike,how old etc.

  4. I used Silkolene in my SPS and I only got some ridiculously low level of miles using this oil as well, I used semi synthetic though I wont be using it again!

  5. The bike is a Panigale S and brand new, and although I was told where to check the oil I never really took much notice. I assumed that having just been PDI'd it would be right.

I'll speak with the dealer this morning and see what he has to say.

I was hoping to go to Barton Bike Night tonight so wanted to try and get some oil just to top it up a little. The oil I ordered online will take a few days so I may sit this one out.

Thanks for the info guys, appreciate it.

  6. If the bike is brand new, the oil may be clearer (a lack of desposits), It was certainly that way with my car

  7. Spoke to the dealer who said I should be checking oil when the engine is warm. I'm sure the manual says to check it when it's cold.

I always thought oil got thinner when warm. The dealer says oil expands when it's warm.

Better read the manual again I guess.

  8. Hot engine or cold when the level was taken?

  9. It was cold. Ill run it tonight hopefully, let it settle for 5 mins then read it again.

  10. I'd speak to your dealer, but some oil usage during running is to be expected I'd say. I do remember the first panis did use a bit and smoke too during running in.

  11. Yeah the dealer did say that it's possible that some oil would be used during run-in. Just checked the manual and it says to check whilst cold. Irritates me that the dealer said to check it when warm. So who's right, dealer or the Manufacturer?

  12. Very interesting, sorry to go a bit off thread but I recently changed from rock oil to silkolene, when using rock oil I never used a drop between oil changes ,now on silkolene I am using about 300 mls per 800-1000 miles, but has just gone past 40000 miles so I was getting worried, seems that it could just be the brand of oil?Hope so,time for another oil change so will go back to rock oil and see.

  13. Well checked the level again tonight after a short run. Oh look the level is lower. Manual 1 dealer 0. :frown:

  14. Quite honestly, the oil level will reasonably accurate after say 5 mins at rest after a ride.

  15. Thanks but 15w50 for me, yes 10w40 is cheaper......see discussion in the thread linked to in my last post.
