Hi guys, got an mot advice for slight side to side movement on my 750SS swingarm. the tester said to nip it up but I know it has shims that need replacing from time to time. I've never done this job before, is it shimmed both sides of the engine casing or just the one and is there anything tricky to keep an eye out for? Cheers, Mart.
Although I haven't done mine yet, I have studied it with a view to doing it when I fit an ally swing arm............ I suggest you contact Moto Rapido and get a small selection of shims from Craig....there are three thin sizes and one thick size if I recall correctly the ones I got.... so I got two of each. The shimming not only takes out the play in the swingarm** but also aligns the drive chain sprockets..........so you could end up with say, two thin shims one side and one thick on the other side....or even no shims one side..... **However, shimming might remove some side to side play, but it won't remove shagged out bearing play.
