Shoei Neotec 2 Or Shuberth C3 Pro

  1. Hi

Wearing an Arai Tour X4 and having real trouble with pressure point on forehead.

Tried both above helmets on and fit is amazing compared to Arai

Any opinions on whats the better option as both fit really well?

  2. C3 Pro would be my choice, i've had 2, and on an E1 currently, which is excellent also!

Take a look at the C4 though before committing to anything, it's supposed to be another step up and will be on my shopping list at the bike show this year!

  3. I’m using a C3 Pro here Too

  4. Just to balance things up, I've been really pleased with my Neotec 2 and the integrated SRL Sena comms. Schuberth doesn't fit me. Andy

  5. I had a C3 Pro for 3 or so years and changed last year to a Neotec (obvious the first generation model, not the new Neotec II).

It took a while to break in the C3 Pro as there was some pressure on my forehead at first. I didn't notice this when trying out the helmet in the shop, it only became apparent after 30 or so minutes. After gently compressing the foam to reduce the pressure the fit became comfortable. When I looking to get a new helmet and thought I'd try a Neotec, the fit was a better to start with however I did need some thinner check pads to get a perfect fit. Based on my "helmet history" I've come to the conclusion that I've a Shoei shaped head. So make sure you spend the time to get a good comfortable fit and try to spend as long as possible with the helmet before committing to the make/model/size.

Regrading differences between the C3 Pro & Neotec: I found the ratchet on the C3 Pro a lot thicker than that on the Neotec, the lining is easier to remove (for cleaning) on the Neotec, I found the top of the Pin Lock was in my sight line on the C3 Pro. I think the C3 Pro may be a bit quieter and may has a bit better ventilation, but there is not a lot in it.

It would be worth looking at the C4 as well as the C3 Pro and Neotec II.

  6. Same here as above, tried Schuberth and Neotec came to the conclusion I have a Shoei shaped head, no problems at all on continental spins. I believe there are more shell size choices in the Shoei range but the Schuberth is supposed to be quieter, but I've found no problems with the Shoei other than the cost of replacement visors.
Oh! and my glasses fitted better in my Shoei.

  7. Shoei here, had a Schuberth and the noise levels above 50mph make no difference so went with the comfier Shoei.

  8. Stupid question I know o/p , but when you say the arai tour x4 gives you a pressure point on your forehead, is this with the peak still attached or have you taken the peak off to turn it back to a normal helmet. Shoei by the way.

  9. Same pressure point whether peak on or off??
Dropped my bike off for a service today and even after 20 minutes the mark on my forehead is mantel!!

I'm going to go and try both on again and simply go for whatever is better fit. Infinity where I getting will let me take home and just wear around the house and if any pressure atall come back and swap so that should work.

On initial try the C3 pro 'seems' slightly more comfy?

  10. Run a C3Pro and find it very comfy. Vents aren't brilliant, but have used it with taller aftermarket screens on Mutley and GS. (1.83cm tall in the nud). One issue I'm having now with the Pro (2yrs old) is a weak visor ratchet so on a windy day on bike the visor keeps dropping down. May have to buy new plates for it. Lots of room for intercom plush speakers too. Paid £250 for it during an Infinity sale, so may not have bought one at full price! Some review s say the new C4 isn't as quiet!!

  11. I've got a C3 (not Pro) as my commuter / runabout helmet. Still go to my Araia RX7 for longer rides as it's far more comfortable (for me).

One thing to consider if you go for the Schuberth is budget an extra £40 - £50 for a genuine pinlock insert. The one Schuberth fit as standard isn't a genuine pinlock and is shite!

  12. Both fit me perfectly , until I move my head with the schuberth then the strap chokes me ! My next helmet was going to be the Neotec 2. The thing that annoys me about the Neotec 2 is that I’d have to stick my intercom to the side of the lid as I don’t think it will push down the side as normal . I’ll be fucked if I’m going to pay £600 for a helmet then another £250 or so for a fitted intercom ... might just buy another GT Air.

  13. So I tried the C3 pro overnight and wore it in house (large) and it destroyed my head!!! MASSIVE pressure point on my forehead so after lots of trying Ive plumped for large neotec 2.........did same and took one overnight and no real pressure point.

Went out today to give it a whirl and VERY DISSAPOINTED!!

Its soooooo noisy????..............this is my first modular so is that normal?

I might try and get shop to swap but reckon coz Ive now worn it I'm screwed?

Might go for XXL C3 pro or would you guys sacrifice some extra noise for comfort?

Really p1ssed off its so loud.......its WAY noisier than my Arai Tour X4?

  14. Which one did you find so noisy...the Shoei?

  15. Yeah, wire the shoei outside for 50 mile. Awefully nousy........is this just what to expect from a modular or have I picked wrong and need to go the shuberth route and possibly compromise a bit of comfort?

  16. Some do find modular helmets noisier that full face, but then some find them quieter because of the tighter fit around the neck. Both the Shoei Neotec (1 and 2) and Schuberth C3 have had good reviews for fit and noise...but it does depend on your head/face shape. I would suggest that you don't compromise on comfort but, if necessary, get some decent ear plugs.

  17. Do you
Do you think a lower / race screen would help to lower turbulence?

Ride a multistrada enduro? Got a higher tgan standard screen on?

  18. Genuinely find my Neotec far quieter than my Arai full face as the helmet is a tighter fit around the neck. Have you got the vents open on the Shoei ?

  19. That C3 I briefly had, was pushing so hard on my forehead, I had to stop in a layby to remove it, and let the "silver stars" in my eyesight dissipate. Wasn't impressed by the modular stuff so bought a GT air, had it a couple of years now, best lid I've owned so far. :upyeah:

  20. Ended up with GT Air...………...THE most comfy lid by far!!
