Shoei Neotec vs GT-Air?

  1. Excuse the copy and paste from another forum.....but I'm lazy!

Having a 'Shoei head' I am looking at the Neotec vs the GT-Air - fit good with both but I really want the quietest lid possible.

....that's what I have now and am not that impressed, certainly nowhere near the extent the reviews/marketing would have led me to expect - I find it fairly noisy and the ventilation (summer cooling!) is not as good as the Z-One's I've had before.

So, is the Neotec really noisier than the Qwest??!

So, anyone out there had the opportunity to actually test one against the other: Neotec vs GT-Air?

    Possible issue for me

  2. I have the predecessor the Shoei multitec, mega comfortable, beautifully finished and great as I wear glasses but as it has long chin guard due to the flip front I find it starts to lift at speeds over 80 mph.

  3. I also have a 'Shoei head' & have worn them for years. Shoei GRV Rothmans Lawson replica anyone?
Currently wear an X-spirit 1 Shakey replica & starting to think about replacing it with an X-spirit 2, local(ish) dealer has no mediums in stock so got me to try on the GT-air. Found it very tight putting it on over my head, they said this was to keep the noise down & then very tight on my ears once on.
Not the hat for me I'm afraid.

  4. I have a GT Air and been very impressed with it. It's the quietest non-Schuberth I have owned but I wouldn't wear it without ear plugs which I could do with a Schuberth. If heat is an issue buy a white one. Black helmets just soak up the sun's heat.

  5. Thanks......reviews read, all pros and cons weighed up and it's the GT-Air for me :D

  6. Shoei GT-AIR Journey TC2

Received my new Shoei GT-AIR Journey TC2 on Friday....well tested yesterday on a 300 mile round trip in temps up to 30 degrees! - glad I went for the White version, so do like the Black (see below) but hot enough in those temps without making it worse with a black lid!!

    Verses my Shoei Qwest
    # Quieter.....not a huge difference but better all the same

    # 'Aerodynamics' - a noticeable difference at speed....don't need quite such strong neck muscles with the sport/shorty screen on the bike :D

    # Ventilation - better than the Qwest (dispite less airflow the Qwest annoyingly let small 'bugs' in [still alive!] through the vents!)

    # Fit - really nice, best/most comfortable fitting helmet (many Shoei's) I've had...
NB: some people/reviews mention that they thought the shell sizes to be smaller i.e. a size above your usual needed - not so for me, same size as my Qwest ;-)

    Bonus likes:
    # Sun visor
    # Looks great :D

PRICES (Uk anyway) - look online and everywhere shows the same price (a stipulation by Shoei?)
I made a few phone calls and got a good deal at JustHelmets - if you're after a new lid speak to Pete to get yourself a DISCOUNT CODE ;)

On Shoei helmets he was able to give 10% discount

.....does look even better, imho anyway, in black but as I said above, in this hot weather glad I didn't succumb!
