Hi everyone. New to the ducati world (and in general to the biking world) and just need some advice on a few bits I need to sort out. I'll start by asking for advice on boots.. I need some decent boots, but I'm usually size 13-14 UK (wide, not necessarily long feet). I prefer trainer style shoes but understand they aren't as safe so interested in easy to walk in and take on and off, comfortable boots, which don't cost hundreds and hundreds.. any advice would be great. I should also say I'm not into the powerranger theme personally so that might make a difference to what you guys advise.. Also as a larger/taller rider I wanted to get some adjustable rear seats for my 848 and was wondering if anyone has any experience of eBay ones as theres some nice red ones for about £60 but I don't want crap lol.. And lastly, looking for a rear paddock stand for an 848.. any reccomendations for decent but well priced ones would be great.. also information on fitment.. e.g.. would a 999 stand work? Sorry for the questions, hope I can get some help! Thanks, Tog
Daytona Goretex GTX are comfy, waterproof and you can probably go dancing in them. Theyre that comfy. 999 is a double swinger. The 848 single sider, so nope. eBay or keep your eyes out on here. They do crop up. Rearests, cheap ones rattle. Best I found for my 1198 were by Metaltech, but hard to find. Not cheap either. Giamoto are reasonable. You can spend millions on rear sets. But I prefer moderation as theyre the first to get it if you slide off. Even though I spend loads on metal tech coz i talk bollox. But I got fed up of the rattly cheap ones and the bits that fall off.
Thanks for the info bootsam. I'll have a look at the shoes. Think I may test the cheap rear sets for £60 as next set seems to come up over £200.. lol Lol using a 999 not a good example then but would any single sided one work, not specific to an 848.. I have seen them on eBay for but there is one on bidding for a 998 which is single sided.. I will keep an eye out here though!
I use the same single sider for my 916 as I do for my pani. I just had a nylon sleeve made to slide over the pin. So its 25mm and now 41mm for pani. These are not exact measurements, hopefully someone will pop by and give them. But 916=996=998 for ss stand. 1198 1199 1299 generally the same (41 i think), but 1098 may be a tad smaller. Not sure of 848 pin size.
Constand paddock stands are great. Reasonable enough price wise a d very good quality. I have a couple of sets of them and for our Ducati's and have been very happy with them... https://www.motea.com/en/mounting-stand With regards to boots, get yourself along to a decent shop and try them on. This is the only way you'll know what fits your budget, feet and feel comfortable... I'm also quite big footed (12) and having experienced the huge variation in fit between different makes and styles of boots I wouldn't buy any without having tried them on.
Got this from demon tweaks for something like £40 it’s acutely sturdy enough. Wasn’t expecting it to be all that tbh
Think I'm going for a constand thanks Ben! The lightechs look a nice bit of kit! Any recommendations for trying on boots in w.midlands? I've been to helmet city in chelt but they didn't have a lot to try on. Thanks guys
Good choice with the Constand I've got 3 of them 2 for my Monster 1200 R and 1 for my wife's Monster 821.
I ride in goretex walking boots. Loads of choice from £30 upwards,Sports Direct etc. Sturdy and comfy. Look for a decent sole to upper seal around the gearchange area as that gets punishment theyre not designed for and can seperate/split.
