Now, I know all too well that the older Ducati's did not like short trips, my 1098S was never used for short trips, my 748 neither. Now, with the Multi that WILL be in my garage haha, how does it handle these trips? Specifically, I will be doing mostly town riding during the week. Getting from my door, to my works. Which is 5 miles away. Thus the bike will do 2x 5 mile trips 5 days a week. Through all weather. Rain, Snow, Sleet and glorious sunshine! At the weekends, the bike will be blasted around as much as possible on proper trips. Or, should I continue to get the train and leave the bike at home? As we all know, 5 miles is just about enough to get the engine up to temperature properly!
Hmmm, bugger... I guess haha. In all seriousness though, 5 miles is a little short then eh? I could push it to 15...
It'll handle short hops perfectly apart from one small fact; it will DEVOUR the juice. Loves being run hard and long & that's when you get the good economy. Nevertheless she'll do short hops easy. I ride mine less than that every night.
That sounds like my usage pattern. No probs with the 2010. Other than the juice side of thing, its the fact I hardly ever used Sports Mode. Urban when decatted or on the 2013 is more than enough squirt round town. On long trips, Touring gives the right fuel economy and is good for licence preservation. Road and weather conditions can often precludes Sports mode anyway. Hypermotard bit too small and less weather protection. But a good option nonetheless.
Get a pushbike, no traffic, no cost, and better lungs to boot! seriously, the multi should be fine for th journey, and bear in mind, with the lighter night you could extend the run back home.
