Reason I ask is I have just bought a used pair that the ebay seller states have only done 500Mi and perfectly round, yet they are Just starting to show a flat spot across the centre of the tyre and the fronts smaller outer edge pattern is 1mm to the limit marker. " Only 500 miles of wear with plenty of tread to go - completely round profile on both tires " The front has also got a slight flatline in the centre which I can feel when I run my hand across it. Also the pattern in the centre is higher on the inside then on the outside of the pattern.
The back looks normal to me, they wear pretty quick and if it's come off a new bike where the user is running it in it may have spent a fair bit of time upright. Not sure if it's just my screen res, or the photo compression but I would be more worried about the front, it looks stepped to me? anyone else? If you look at the right of the middle picture?
Wheel could be out of balance, rim of original bike distorted, run at incorrect pressures, lot of things can start problems off, even the type of tyre. My 998 which I had from new did some really weird things with the front original tyre and it wore out before the back!!. You do get the odd rouge tyre and since changing it's been fine. Luck of the draw up to a point.
I haven't done many trackdays, but I would bet my life they haven't been tracked, they have no discolouration of tearing (even slight) or bobbles on the edges. These look exactly like the tyres on my 848 Evo after 750 Miles, although I don't think mine are stepped on the front. Is it a dealer who took them off a Demo bike by any chance?
Don't think so Phil, Heres the original listing, pirelli diablo supercorsa sp tires - pair | eBay I actually only needed the front and was gonna sell the rear to get some money back. Like you say, the front pattern is stepped. I'm thinking they have either had to much or not enough pressure in them if only done 500mi. Comparing them to the 512Mi old Corsa sp on the panny then lookslike they have done double the miles and the 521mi old one's are perfectly round and like you worded pefectly phil The front isnt "Stepped" like the ebay front. I think either they have done alot more miles or been run with wrong pressures in them.
Well, After Lots of emails via ebay, the seller says they might have been run with wrong/higher pressure, But still thinks I was seeking any fault with tyres straightaway after delivery is wrong????? He has offered partial refund or to send me a Better pair of same tyres. I chose the 2nd option as rear is starting to get flat spot and in my opinion(Not his) the front is junk and possibly dangerous to use. As I said, all I want is what I paid for, a pair of 500mi old tyres with a nice round profile as stated.
