Ok this a first world problem, I luckly to own a lovely 996SPS series 3 2000 MY, I love this bike, but I would like a little more power, so was thinking of 1299s with an arkapovic system. I still want that V twin sound and feeling, in an ideal world I would have both, I am concern that I would regret my decision, also thinking that electronic suspension on 1299 would be better for road riding instead of the fix suspension on the 1299FE for example. Would very much like to hear opinions, if I am crazy or good move.
Same here, have a panigale r and 996sps, I'd definitely keep the 996 over the panigale, you be daft to sell the sps . As good as the panigale is, the 996 to me is so special every ride is amazing.
For what it's worth bud, I had my 996 engine blue printed and mapped, got it to 135 bhp , nice to have a bit more power.
Thanks to all that have responded I am still very confused, I was hoping that people would tell that 1299 is basically 996 with more power, but it seem that people prefer the riding experience of the 996, but looking in the forum it would seem that people also love the 1299. So I am finding the response surprising and still need to find a way to scratch that itch.
To be honest no, the pani is such a good bike and yes looks amazing. But the 996 is so much more involving and in my opinion looks better.
If I were you go test ride a 1299 if you can. Unless you can afford both I'd definitely stick with the 996
Go halfway, 1198S....all the character of the older bikes , loads more power but none of the refinements of the panigale series
Something of utter importance that nobody mentioned yet (probably because no one is ready to admit it…): riding a Tamburini makes you look good. And badass. And super skilled (Edit: even when you’re not). Nobody gives a shit about someone riding a Panigale or a 1098 downtown. I mean, do you? Be Italian, ffs, love yourself and keep the 996!
Thanks for the offer, but since I post thread I have already had other offers. This was never the intention
Ive sold my 998s by phone - after 30 min off advertising- a couple of week’s ago, the dude went on a two week holiday and wanted to pick it up after that. He wanted to pay advanced, but I didn’t. Had some sleepless nights, strange emotions and needed to call him after a week, that I had a change of heart, and do not sell, glad I did. I’m at peace now and have had some good nights of sleep! That’s what a Tamburini bike does with you.
i sold my 999r for a 1299s, and then my 996s for a 1199s.. Both bikes are rocket ships, but in some part of my brain, I miss the tingle you get from the motor on tickover, and the purely mechanical character of the 996.. if I was a rich man, I would also have a 996sps in the garage...
