Side Stand Not Springing Back Ss

Discussion in 'Supersport (1974-2007)' started by ck_uk, Feb 26, 2016.

  1. My side stand has gone lazy and won't flick back up. Just had a look and noticed the inner spring has come unhooked but I'm not sure how this should be refitted. Do you have to remove the outer spring first from the stand arm, then refit the inner? Can anyone advise by way of a photo or explanation?

  2. Just hook it back on in the position you have it in.......the two hooks oppose............

.....scroll down to the post about sidestand bolts and look on page 3......you might be able to enlarge the pic of mine just enough to confirm.....

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  3. Yeh got it back on ok, had to remove the outer spring first then hook the inner one over, then the outer back on. TBH the whole thing needs taking apart I think and copperslipping as it's sticking quite a bit.

  4. I managed to tighten mine with a bit of effort with some pliers.............and then I found a complete spare set of springs......

  5. Pretty easy to put back in place with the aid of pliers.

Or even easier if you pass a cord or wire string on the eyes of the metal plate (boomerang shape) and pull from there.

Here is how mine looks after polishing and powdercoating
