My third mtistrada... never noticed it, but is the side stand meant to have a little play at the mounting bolt? As in, when it's extended, you can 'wobble it' but when kicked in, it's pretty much solid. I'm 3 days into a 2 week trip and it's earing into me, even though I'm sure it's fine.
Yup. Its a service check item. I've had to close the gap a few times over the years. Avoid using it with luggage.
As @gmoss found, on the odd occasion, I’ll take the side stand off and “close “ the fork up a little by clamping it in a vice. Ideal opportunity to check the hole roundness in the frame lug as well. Andy
You could always have the hole in the bracket machined out and press in a hardened steel boss, then have a pivot bolt machined with matching tolerance. It would probably outlast the bike.
I'm sure there was a recall / upgrade on the side stand or maybe it was the bolt , might be worth checking with your dealer, anyway mine has the same play, 50k miles on and it's outlasted the engine , used with full luggage on numerous bike tours without any issues.
