999 Silencer And Ecu Fitting Advice

  1. Will be looking at getting round to fitting the silencer and ecu I bought before xmas and mentioned in another post
Still new to all things Ducati so any tips or things to do or not to do when removing /fitting silencer and ecu gratefully received

  2. Dont forget to connect the eath wire back to the ecu. Take care with the ecu heat shield screws. While in there reposition the fuel pump relay out of the way of water ingress.

  3. hello manx, I just read some of your previous post on termi, if you are fitting a used ecu to your bike I don't think it will run as it will be linked to the clockset of the bike they came off. They can be reflashed, a couple of peeps on here can do it, antoneye and chrisw.

  4. Thanks mate, thats exactly the sort of advice I was hoping for ,will get in touch with the guys you mentioned and see what they have to say

  5. If it's a DP ECU then it will likely be Virgin. Dealers didn't code them so that bikes could be returned to stock and the Termis/ECU sold separate.

The TPS setting will probably be OK but it is recommended to reset it after any ECU work.

Whilst you are in there replace the coil/injector/pump relay with a new one. They are cheap as chips but cause no end of problems due to water ingress.

  6. thanks for the replies, ecu off to ChrisW to be sorted
Any tips or tricks or potential pitfalls I need to be aware of before I start actually physically swapping silencers

  7. image.jpg It's pretty straight forward to changeover the silencer. Remove tank, seat and rear cowl unit as one. Remove rear lights and indicators. Remove bolts holding silencer to subframe. Remove subframe, exhaust retaining springs and then wiggle the silencer off the exhausts. Make sure the metal gaskets are on the exhausts when you wiggle the new silencer on and refit everything in reverse.

On the ECU swap +1 @final_edition s advice on the earth wire. Took me a while to diagnose I'd loosen mine and bike wouldn't prime the fuel system and got an error code on the dash.

Oh yeah and maybe an opportunity to give it a good polish
    :)
