Was looking at the FE site earlier for the Ducati day in September.....noticed they had some dates for the Silverstone GP in July so after a chat to the guy at FE I ended up booking for the 30th First trackday bar a couple of CSS days. Have a funny mix of excitement and nervousness atm but sure it'll be fine weather permitting! Planning to just ride up on the day as it's not that far away from me, just wondering if you guys have any tips or hints for these things?
In my and many others opinion but make your own mind up  re prep just make sure you have some food and fluid, tyre gauge (you can prob borrow a pump) and gaffa tape for your lights and mirrors. Otherwise fill up and have fun
I might look at booking this. The majority of my TD have been with focused and silverstone was by far the worst run and organised. The trouble is that the track is soooo long that by the time you've got out and got into a rhythm it's time to come back in again. i want to do it again though, as I didn't get the most out of it last time.
Cant stand it. Too big, too bland, too fast, too long. But not done it for years and last time was on a small bike. Maybe its better withna faster machine
You will love it on the bigger bike, if only for nailing it down the Hanger Straight, braking and turning into Stowe
Ha, that's 2 pretty polar opposite views! I was kinda a little worried about going for this as I know it's quite a fast track, by the same token though it's pretty wide is it not? So thinking being when I almost certainly err from what's ideal there's a lot more room to err into. I booked into the novices, just wondering what to expect from the group?
I love sillystone, its big, fast and fun. maggots and becketts are fantastic and I love the new arena section.
Yeah that is irritating, alex needs to sort out a decent web ordering system. It's a shame as he takes cracking photos
Dunno, I didn't get to see any at Donnington and was a shame as I would have had some shots in all that rain.
Hmm, that's a bugger on the photos. Are they bike specific or just shots from the day of various? Been buying some protection bits and bobs too...set of covers for engine etc, fork and arm sliders and a set of underbody frame sliders. As far the frame sliders go is it just a set for those? One either side?
they are bike specific mate, they will pick out all of the shots of you on the day and you can choose any or all of them
I am doing this one too - up with a crowd from JHP. I did Silverstone a couple of years back when we had two days. I just about knew where I was going and found a rythmn on day 2 - it is a long track! The main issue is knowing which straight-right hand turn section you are in along the two pit wall straights - as one right it tight, and the other is not, and they both look the same from memory! I often ended up going into one of them a bit hot and the other a bit too cold! Huge track though, and fast as you like. I am up there on the 848 which is now converted to track mode. On the stop for a lot of the lap me thinks! Would love to ride the Desmo but they won't allow you with the noise....
Sweet! I will have to remember the pit straights thing, though I've been quite a few times over the last few years so have a fairly good idea of the layout. Although it may well be a different story other side of the fence! Shame about the Desmo, that would have been something to see! Will be heading up on an 848 too (one in the avatar), just trying to source a decent set of cheap fairings to finish things off atm. I'd be pretty upset if I binned it with the nice ones on! Hopefully see you there and fingers crossed the weather is good! @abmatt: yup, the sliders are R&G, went gb racing for the covers as I prefered the look of those. All seems pretty straight forward to fit I think...
