Has anyone found a tool or protector to aid with the manual process of adjusting the pre-load on a Skyhook equipped Multistrada. The part you rotate is anodised matt black (ideal for showing tool marks) and the non-rotating surface appears very easy to scratch. Note the best combination for making adjustments without leaving tool marks everywhere. any ideas.... Bradders  please do not take part in this thread:Banghead:.
You can buy plastic covered spanners, but I was hoping for a nice tool like we had on the 916 to 998.
Yoiks! Id rather spend the money on fuel. Another method I use is to pop a sandwich bag over the top of the nut and then place a spanner or socket over it. Just seems a too easy solution to be throwing money at it. Each to their own though.
Sorry, I should have been clearer. Ducati recognised that this is an issue and made a tool. I wasn't advocating that you buy one, as I wouldn't.
It's not an issue tho is it and it's no different to any other bike with preload nut. They all mark if you are ham fisted. Or is the nut that soft it marks more than any other? I ask as I've never touched mine but wouldn't bother me just using a socket
Funny thing is, I know how these things work mostly and am always adjusting stuff on other than the multi. It doesnt need it. Its that good out the crate. Now yesterday I was setting ride height, sag, balanced settings for compressions and rebound ready to test the gixer at some point
Just ordered alloy socket set facom....with collars and sleeves... Should do the job nicely. Will document adjustment and thought process to help others.
