first the sprag clutch now the clutch appears not to work lever rock solid bleed the system still no joy could the piston be frozen any ideas
Hi, I would remove and inspect it. I had a similar issue but the lever went solid during use. It was the clutch cover bearing on the other side. As it was seized, it was spinning the rod and generating a massive amount of head on the piston in the slave cylinder. This heat was causing the fluid to expand and the lever went solid. When you remove the slave cylinder, look for swirls as this could be the cause. Replacement bearing is about a tenner an be sure to put grease at both ends of the rod before use. All in with bleeding the clutch, its a 30 min job. Fingers crossed for you pal...
Okay, disconnected from the fluid hose? I'm guessing its seized then< is there any spinning marks on the piston face and whats the fluid res level like? Sorry for the Q's but without images, diagnosis is slower. If you can post any images, this may help too
You need to check the following: 1) If the slave is off, the spinning marks will be pretty obvious. The end of the pushrod will also be marked (it will still spin freely, hence the marks). 2) Take the clutch cover off and check the movement in the end bearing (this will cause the above if its knackered as it causes the pushrod to spin, generating massive heat in the slave, seizing the piston) 3) Completely remove the slave, inspect on the bench for any leaks or damage - does the piston move with no fluid? 4) If it frees up when bike is cool, the above would be my suggestion. If not, the piston might well be fubarred, if its a OE part, IMO, bin it and replace (I havea spare one if ur stuck) Okay, it sounds as if you might need some help here. It you can't post images or not sure what you are looking at, I would recommend you get a bike shop to take a look.
Sorry if photo not much help clutch was working fine until sprag went then went solid thanks for all the help so far
