So as much as I've never really been bothered about slicks I think I'm going to give a set a go in Portimao in November just to see if I can notice a difference! So my question is, on a V4S what would be recommended? I'm in the bottom third of the fast group at most of the UK days but still learning the bike so not slow but not fast! Plan is to do the first day on the standard supercorsa's to kill off the rear and then swap to slicks for the remaining 3 days so ideally a rear that will last 3 days would be good?! My mate runs Dunlop KR106 & 108's on his Aprilia and really likes them, but is anything else a bit more suited to the Panigale?
I'm in the same boat although my next track day won't be until next year now. I've been using the Pirelli SC V3 SC2s so will go with the Pirelli Superbike slicks for now. Andy
For out and out grip at a premium price Dunlop KR's are the daddies. Vo2's are very close behind for less money and wear better in my opinion. I personally have moved from the Dunlops to Bridgestones for trackdays but if I was racing again I would probably go back to the Dunlops for the little bit extra. Dunlops are evil when cold though and if you get held in pitlane etc for any length of time they are like riding on marbles.
I fitted SC2 compound Pirelli Superbike Slicks for Snetterton a few weeks ago did 2 days and theres still at least a days worth left on them. It was my first time riding with slicks and i couldnt believe how good they were Was lapping 5-6 seconds a lap faster than iI'd managed previously when running the stock Supercorsa SPs.
