Slipper Clutch

  1. Has anyone else had a slipper clutch fitted to their 748/9xx ? I had one on an NC30 I had for a while and keep thinking it would be a nice upgrade

  2. yes, plenty of the track lads do it. A nice bit of kit (sigma ones that is)

  3. Standard fitment on my 748R, fitment of choice on my 748SP. As Cranker has said and IMO a must for a track bike. Andy

  4. Agreed if you are planning lots of track time. I never had a slipper on my 916 or my first 998. Never took either of them on the track. Bought my latest 998s about 18 months ago. It had a slipper on it. I'd never ridden one before - WOW! is it fun! :D. I don't do track days, but it's fun even on the road! the liberties you can take with a powerful engine-braking V twin and a slipper clutch that you can't with a normal clutch - I laugh every time i take her out!...

  5. That's what I was wondering, I think it would be more beneficial on the Ducati, and I even found it great on the little V4 screamer NC.

  6. Don't get me wrong Ian, I LOVE the brute force of a V-twin's (or L-twin if your that way inclined...) engine braking. It's brutal and dangerous until you get used to it if you've never ridden a V twin before and it blows all the Japanese IL4's lack of engine braking into the tall grass in my opinion. I was worried that I'd lose all that agricultural brutality when I bought my latest 998s with a slipper - but there is still a nice reassuring amount of engine braking, even with the slipper - it just takes off the edge and lets you take liberties that you would only normally do on an IL4 I suppose!
It's an expensive extra if you are buying a new one, but I think if I ever get another Ducati, I will probably invest in a slipper if it doesn't come with one...
Although that said, I have just invested in a standard clutch ... I'm thinking of swapping it back to standard just to have a play and see.... sorry, have I just thrown a spanner into my argument?!...
