748 Small Oil Weep

  1. Hi
I have a small oil weep on the lower bolt below the sight glass , from looking at the parts diagrams , I think the casing uses sealant Vs a gasket

Big job to do ? No gasket ? Sealant, any recommendations

    Thanks

  2. I remember you can get a persistent fixing leak from time to time but a good clean of screw, hole and thread followed by lashings of Threebond usually does it, first thing I would check is that that is the correct length screw for that duty, as a wire harness tether is out on a limb rather and it's worth trying to use the longest screw possible particularly considering it's leaking. There is often spare tapped thread to be found in the crankcase. I hope it isn't partially stripped already.

  3. Another thing to check is that it is, in fact, the source of the leak and not just the lowest point and dropping off point for a leak higher up around the case that is making its way down along the joint line to drop off from your current suspect.

  4. Agree that the photos don’t clearly show a “wet “fixing but does look like a typical case, it’s because it is the lowest point that it’s more likely to leak and further investigation is a five minute job anyway?

  5. Thanks , sorry I cleaned the area , its coming from there causing a small build up around the screen filter nut ; can triple check again

Will check the screw length , try clean of screw, hole and thread, threebond stuff
