Small Tank Bag

Discussion in 'Clothing, Gadgets & Equipment' started by Richard F, Oct 10, 2022.

  1. The official Ducati one is the pocket tank bag part 96781602A

An alternative would be the SW Motech Pro micro which is a bit cheaper but let's face it with the price points of the bike that's hardly worth mentioning!!

Without much chance of seeing either of these (or any others!) in 'real life' does anyone have experience with either of these on a Multistrada?

NB: I've tended in the past to just use a top box and no panniers (so I can get through traffic) and tank bags in the past have always got in the way too - but a small one might be just the job for those small jaunts

  2. Personally I would go with the SW MOTECH Pro City tank bag.
It will fit the V4 tank shape better yet is 3 times the capacity. It’s designed for adventure bike tanks.

  3. Got both the micro and the day bag SW motec , both great. I use the micro for the weekend blasts as fits phone , bits and bobs. When on tour I use the day bag and perfect for the bits you need on those tours.
Neither bags gets in the way or even gets noticed when riding hard , as some of the larger bags do .

  4. thanks, very helpful. I'd not realised there were different sizes of the SW Motech - getting a couple of different sizes - that definitely seems the way to go.

  5. I ordered both with the bike specific ring so I could decide the best one for me. Trouble was both were perfect .. you could order through the web and buy the different versions and see which one would suit and return the others.

  6. The Ducati tank bag is just a re-branded Givi ST602. This seems to only be available outside the UK now, mainly in Italy. the Givi TankLocked ST605, apparently the 602 replacement, is still available in the UK but is around the same price as the Ducati version. The ST605 has a locking mechanism, the ST602 and Ducati version don't.

I have an ST602 and am very happy with it. Ideal as a day bag for phone, other bits and pieces such as visor cleaning kit, sunglasses etc. Use it on tour combined with the MTS luggage as it's easy to access. Also have a bigger ST603 version for two up touring where the extra space is handy. Both have a Velcro on zippered pocket that covers the transparent phone window (I don't use that), this is useful for toll tickets and a credit card to pay for the same as well as fuel.

You do need the specific mounting ring for your bike in addition.

Also the power kit can be handy. Removed the DC connector from mine and added a right angle Hella plug which works great on my 1260 Multi. I swap this from the smaller bag to the bigger one when required.

These are pics of my bags but on my previous bike (MV Turismo)

  7. Kreiga do a tank strap, then you can affix just about anything you want easily enough. A US10, 20 or 30...

  8. You’re more likely to scratch the tank with that, unless you put some PPF on first. DAMHIK!

  9. I've got the Kreiga tank bra on the 1098 and MV not scratched my tank
Having said that has the op considered the Kreiga bum bag instead of a small tank bag
