I mentioned in a previous post that Tony at SMC is just about the most passionate Ducati salesman you could ever meet but now it seems the Italians actually agree. The SMC team has been voted as top UK outfit for customer service by Ducati. Well done to the lot of them. Good to have you local.
On the award but :frown: For ever trying to do a p/x deal. Sorry but 3 times I've tried and 3 times you've not wanted to do a deal.
Glad I re-joined the forum a few days ago! ShaunR, thank you very much for your comments. It's always a pleasure to see you, your lovely shiny Red Dukes and your smiling face whenever you visit. El Toro.....Sorry we have not, as yet, managed to do a deal. I don't know who you are, you'll have to let me know sometime. Did you speak to me when you visited/rang? One or two of the other guys, who mainly sell the Jap stuff, are also allowed to sell Ducatis, but they don't share my love of the brand and my exacting standards of bike prep and handover. Also, the big ginger "sales prevention officer" has now departed, and Frank, the boss, certainly will not want me to miss any genuine, sensible deals. Tony - SMC Bikes
I've called in three times since the beginning of the year for a new pair of boots in my size, still have not got them. Congratulations on the award you must be doing something right. Steve
Hi Tony I don't suppose you know who I am, as I can't think who you are either. You do however know a close neighbour of mine I'm sure (Dutch guy called Peter) who buys his bikes from SMC, the latest being an 848 evo with a special paint job. I have tried p/x'ing my last three bikes with you and each time "we" couldn't agree on the trade in rate. I managed to get the deal I wanted from other dealers (latterly Ducati Manchester on my old R1 against a new 848 evo corse). It was never a huge difference I wanted, always somewhere in the region of £500 extra would have done it but each time there was no negotiation. I will be in the market again maybe next spring. I will make a point of coming to see you to see what, if anything you can do
Ah yes, Peter. Lovely chap. Traded that ZXR750R in and owns that heavily tricked up Alfa? When you are ready, give me a ring or call in. I will do my very best for you and will ensure we quote you happy next time. If you're passing by in the meantime, call in and I'll get you a coffee.
Er, yes. We could tell you, but then we'd have to sh............. There will be two versions, standard and S and I'm pretty sure you'll like the price when you see it. Watch this space.........
Thumbs up for SMC. i sold my them Duc and swapped to a nice jap instead There is a good reason for SMC to win a service award - they care for you as a person and for your machine, not only thinking of you as a number with some loose coin in the pocket. A lot of dealers have a lot to learn from SMC; I haven't for the past 5 years in UK seen such a high service level and quality, from any other type of business, no matter in which market they operate in.
Yep that's Pete. He lives two doors away. I will pop in at some point and have coffee at least. Thanks
well if the S is similar in price to the Tuono V4 aprc then quite possibly, if its more then I'm afraid I probably won't I tell you what though, I still fancy a go on one of the new hypers, I test rode the old ones at your place last year/year before and loved it apart from them feeling a touch small/thin. do you have a proper hyper on demo fleet, not one of the stradas as I hate the seating position on them?
Hi Damodici, Unfortunately, at the moment we only have the Hyperstrada on as a demo. However, I've ordered a Hypermotard SP as a demo for March; now that's what you call a PROPER Hypermotard! If all goes to plan, the new Monster demo should be here by about then, too. Happy times ahead! Now, must go and do some work.......
Well, done on your award, best things come from Sheffield!( born there.....) el toro- who is he ? He's Dave! hth
Damn, that's the problem, nearly every Uk dealer got a strada on demo but that doesn't help with sales of the SP or normal Hyper IMO because the seating / riding position of the strada is so much different, enough to put me off anyway to be honest I'd only probably look at the SP version if buying but hey ho. if I'm in the market come march ill pop by
Hi Neil, Indeed I remember. I see your armoury of two-wheeled weaponry is also expanding; nice one! If you're ever passing by here (on the way to the Peaks or something), always feel free to drop in for a coffee and a catch up! All the best, Tone.
