So with friends overnight, started the bike (1098s) this morning and a couple of them have just told me that there was a puff of greyey/blue smoke!! Gone in a mo though? just a puff!! so anyone see this before? Is it normal? (As I'm always at the front end) or is this a problem? had 7500 mile service couple months ago. Just thought I'd ask
I wouldn't worry about a puff of smoke on strat up, I would however worry if it smokes under load or when you shut off the throttle, for piece of mind ask a pal to follow you to confirm that under hard acceleration all is well.
probably some poor creature the crept into the end can for a safe place to sleep and you roasting it on start up. You bastard! It would be worth monitoring thou just to see if it does it again
I had a small puff of smoke from the bottom area of engine on start up yesterday (started 3rd time after 2 failed starts that produced some nasty sounds!) Bike then ran fine and started normally later on. Any ideas?
It could be pre-ignition that could pressurise the crankcase, I would check timing belts just to be on the safe side
