Snow Foam

  1. Has anyone used snow foam to wash their bike with?
I recently purchased some snow foam for the car and was pretty impressed with it, just wondered if might do damage to some of the mechanical parts on a bike that are exposed?

  2. I use it on the car and can't see any reason why you couldn't use it on a bike. I have in the past with no problems. The only reason I don't use it more is that it involves getting the pressure washer out. A hose pipe and a bucket of Meguiars finest gold class shampoo is the order of the day in cold weather for me.

  3. A lot of snow foam has TFR and you really need to avoid this stuff because it strips polish and leaves stains, I buy PH neutral snow foam contains no TFR and it's the most user friendly stuff.

The cheap snow foams that contains TFR would stain the alloy frame but it's not the case with valetpro stuff, I've used it for years on vehicles and bikes, I also have 25litres of some cheaper stuff that contains TFR and only ever use it on enduro bikes.

  13. The play with your pani is an old joke

  14. PaniS or just a base model?

  15. I use it and its great stuff. You don't need a pressure washer if you use a hosepipe applicator. Works a treat and you can put car shampoo or cleaning gel - Rhino Goo/Sdoc100 etc - in it as well.

You can buy cheaper versions on Ebay but I can vouch for these. They sell the Valetpro ph neutral stuff as well at a good price.
I usually do a full soak with foam, wash off then a detail clean with shampoo and water in a bucket with a brush. I reapply ACF50 (compressor spray gun) and polish after each foam wash.

  16. TFR or Traffic Film Remover Will also contain Alkaline components – these can include caustic materials, silicates and amines, it's bad shite if not applied with the correct application and ratio a good snow foam like the valetpro stuff is the best option for use on your pride n joy, buy yourself a snow foam application bottle for your lance, fill the bottle with snow foam, I always add some poorboys shampoo as well .

The snow foam applicator bottles for your washer can be brought cheaply off evilbay, try to buy one with a variable adjuster so you can control the mix.

  17. I use GT Techniq snow foam via the pressure washer, recommended by a car detailing bod. Top stuff. :)

  18. Bought a gallon of the ValetPro stuff yesterday.
Valet Pro Advanced pH Neutral Snow Foam 5 Litre - Elite Car Care
Had been using Elite's own brand snow foam but its not neutral. Never had a problem with it but with a new bike when it ran out I thought I try something safer.
Tested the ValetPro neat on various materials for an hour before trying it on my new bike and no problems.
It was superb. Shifted everything, bugs, tar dirt and even loosened chain grease so that it came off easily shampoo, water and brush.
Definitely better than Sdoc100 or Rhino Goo, and they're very good, and judging by the way the rinse water beaded off afterwards it looks like it really doesn't strip waxes and polish.

I buy from this firm because they're don't just sell the stuff, they're professional valeters and they use the stuff they sell. They've usually got a Ferrari or an Aston in the workshop so if they don't know, who does?

Incidentally, they also sell the GT Techniq Citrus as well and they reckon that is as good.

  19. I also use the valet pro stuff and get it from elite car care too. Maybe we should try for forum discount? I know they offer it on some car forums.

  20. Good idea. They seem a good firm, know their stuff and stock loads of things that're useful to bikers. I buy packs of lint free cloths from them, and degreaser. Way cheaper than high street auto suppliers.
