Ok so i have had my trusty Oxford sport heated grips now for some four years, they have been on 6 bikes and covered some 40,000 miles. So i cannot grumble when they started to act up, one minute being on high then low and flicker in between!!! I guessed that the processor was the culprit and not a short in the grips themselves. So i have pruchased the new 2012 versions that have only one box instead of the two and a lot less wiring!! I left the grips fitted and tried with the new control unit....................... perfect saved me a lot of time rather than putting the new grips on. The newer version also has another setting at 50% which also helps and the battery saving mode is fab.
Yep that is sh1t :frown: Took the 1098 out today, my god my hands were cold  My Zx7 has heated grips on, but just doesnt look as nice in town and nobody looks at it
I was having trouble with my 2008 bought Hot Grips - like you they have been on three/four bikes now. What I found was the inline fuse holder wasnt making decent contact with the blades of the fuse, a quick poke & squeeze and all is good now! Great alternator on the Triumph Sprint - grips on 75%, both headlights on, 2500 rpm = still getting 13.8v at the battery.
My oxford heated grips have started to play up as well. Just two years old. They have 5 heat settings and have stopped holding the setting. All the lights work and when stationary with the bike ticking over I can pre select any setting but as soon as I pull away they flick to the lowest setting which either isn't hot enough or they're not actually getting hot. I wonder if it is the control unit, any ideas?
Sounds like the same as what mine were doing. Changing heat settings as soon as the revs changed? Mine kept changing just as i rode off from the higher settings to 30%.
