  12. I sprained my ankle in april this year and it's just about 90% right now

Jockeys on the other hand are back in the saddle after around eight weeks

  13. 4-6 weeks for ligaments, 6 weeks for bone to mend & screws out etc.; more like 9 -12 weeks for tendons, but a dislocated ankle is very tricky, as a pal found out when he did the same thing - it took him a very long time (more than 12 months) as it all depends on exactly what was damaged - nerves and blood supply to the foot are very susceptible to permanent damage with an ankle dislocation

Ask the consultant loads of questions about their prognosis - get the very best advice you can - from the professionals looking after you - bones and breaks, tendon I can tell you about all from my own own painful experiences, but on the ankle I'm only relaying the dog ends I picked up from the drawn out aftermath of one of our ride outs!.

Best of luck, of course, for a speedy recovery

  14. I was just about to have dinner. That should have had a warning attached.

    Get well soon.

  15. Blimey - that looks horrific, bet you thought of a few new words - GWS

  16. Ouch. Recovery time depends on what you want to do with it. In my crash, I fractured by ankle in four places so I was in a cast for 6 weeks, which is pretty standard stuff. I was walking without a limp in 3 months, but I wanted to run, not walk. I eventually managed to run again properly 18 months after the accident with a great deal of rehab and pushing myself. I still dont have to movement of my right ankle and I sometimes get shooting pains if I sit on my ankle funny.
Dont rush the rehab, let the body heal itself. Youve got at least 3 months before any decent weather comes back this way. The best advise I can give is really push for physio and rehab. Pester your gp if necessary and if you can afford it, go private, but thats £45 a session and you'll want 2 or 3 sessions a week
    Get well soon dude

  17. I had the same sort of injury on a jet ski, broken fib and tib and dislocated ankle. two weeks in royal Victoria hospital and plates and pins. in plaster for I think three months then three months out of plaster before I started walking. self employed and still was out of work for eight months. after one year I had one plate removed due to the screws hitting against furniture etc. you can look forward to arthritis and on off pain also I find I cant run so well and def no football. all in all its a nasty break, I snapped mine over the edge of the ski and when I looked at my foot it was the wrong direction and was driven back so the leg was sort of in the middle of my foot and then I had to ride about half mile to shore for help, it was bloody sore having the joint reset even with morphine and entonex.
I also was not offered nor received any physiotherapy help ( nhs )

  18. also I was lucky and had a private room complete with my own wc and a nurse who even gave me a couple of hand jobs :upyeah:.

when I think about it Mathew really was a good nurse.
