Never had any issues removing them with my regular bi-hex sockets/spanners.

 

Is that an Airfix spanner?

 

I think this does catch most people out first time round, it certainly did me – you would think that a conventional full hex/6 flat socket would fit despite the nut presenting as a "bi-hex".

 

Buy some Torx sockets

Not necessary - the nuts are standard bi-hex.
