Hi folks. I am trying to agree a purchase of a new 848 Evo shortly for the start of next year. It's ages away but my finances and the timing are meaning I can't really make it happen until the new year so my plan is to agree a price (give or take some options) and order the bike soon then collect in March. My questions really relate to people's ownership experiences and which parts owners would recommend. I am keen to have a tail tidy fitted before I collect the bike as I really dislike any rear mudguard assemblies these days, but I can't really tell from what I've seen which ones have the look I am after. I don't really want a quick release one for trackdays as if / when I do trackdays on it, I'll just leave the plate on but that would be helpful. Mainly what I'm after is one that removes the mudguard and has a small "bar" along the top that would allow me to fit a slightly smaller (but still square) number plate. The ones that are shown on the dealer website look like the official Ducati ones and look like they are made to carry full size plates so wouldn't work with a smaller one as they'd hang out around the edges of the plate. Are the usual suspects like R&G and Evotech the best bet? Also, where can I get a number board decal kit for the nose and tail unit? I'm not sure if I want these but thought I'd check out prices etc. So far, I think the spec that I'm after is red bike, Termi cans, hugger, seat cowl, venture shield on the nose and fairing edges, tail tidy and possibly the carbon front fender. There are a few other bits like the ride height adjuster that I'm wondering about but I'd be more inclined to do that sort of stuff once I've owned the bike for a bit and know what I fancy tweaking. Any info would be great. Thanks. Andy
Go to Evotech for the tail tidy as its near enough the same as the R&G item only significantly cheaper.
Cheers. I had a look at their website earlier and the Evotech one looks to be just what I had in mind. I have an R&G on my GSXR and all the paint fell off it a while back and the number plate light failed too and ended up falling off altogether. Heard good things about Evotech's stuff though.
£10 from eblag... Really no need to make it any more complicated IMHO... It's a piece of bashed metal!
I hope you snorted in derision. Mind you, my competition werkes kit has cost me £180 so far. (£95 to buy and ship from across the pond, £15 import duty, £10 for a new plate to suit its size and £60 for a fixed penalty.)
It's your $, but really? Ducati 848 2007-2012 Tail Tidy | Evotech Performance TAIL TIDY - DUCATI 848 / 1098 / 1198 | eBay
Yeah, I figured the Ducati official one was bonkers at that price. All I'm after is one that will allow me to put a smaller plate on if I fancy it and gets rid of the mudguard etc. I got a final price for the bike from the sales guy today which includes an Evotech tail tidy instead of the Ducati one. Pretty sure I'm going ahead with that purchase now but still won't be able to collect the bike before March. I wanted all this thrashed out now though so I knew what I was paying and had it all on order with the dealer.
Thanks for the tip Nelson. I've just ordered that tail tidy. had one made by D3 for Two Bros can on a Triumph Daytona and the quality was brilliant.
