Someone Got Me At A Junction!

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Saxie, Jun 24, 2017.

  1. Last week me and the missus having a day out. I have lost my memory of the day but apparently someone pulled out of a junction and broadsided us. Air ambulance, police, road closure etc however no big speeds involved fortunately so I just have concussion, broken ribs and bruises.
So annoying as I have had 30 years of incident free riding. I always imagine every driver is trying to kill me when i ride and always go slow at junctions where cars lay in wait, but obviously I missed one. Police said it was totally drivers fault and they will be prosecuted.
The bike was a 2015 D Air 1200S , fog lights, comfort seat, puig taller screen and sat nav. the dealer said it looks like a right off.
The worst feeling is that I will have to try and rebuild my partners confidence. She was thrown clear and has fortunately only suffered a few bruises but she remembers it all and now wants me to use the insurance money for a new kitchen!
I am still bed bound a week later with swollen ankle, dizzy spells and some memory loss. so won't be able to ride for a while. Don't tell the wife but I'm thinking on a positive note Im hoping to get the rumoured new updated 2018 model!
PS Car drivers remember the 80s TV advert "THINK ONCE THINK TWICE THINK BIKE" !

And hope you have a quick and full recovery

  5. Not good my friend, glad your injuries are not worse and hope you GWS. Also hope your wife doesn't suffer the nightmares. Andy

  6. GWS! Picture of leg reminds me of mine 3 years ago - not a great memory.
New kitchen is probably just a reaction due to shock and will pass with luck.

  7. Sorry to hear this. Get well soon. I see you're a Darrener, so you'll be made of strong stuff! :upyeah:

Love the way the dealer says it looks like a right off, I'm sure he'll be more than happy to sell you another one lol!

  8. Thanks everyone. How did you get that picture of my wife?

  11. Real shooter. Just shows that regardless of how much precaution you take in your approach to riding, it can always happen. GWS and good luck with the missus :upyeah:

  12. All the best to you and the Mrs.

  13. Wishing you all the best GWS
    Don't get the kitchen ;)

  14. Sorry to hear that. Get well soon.
These things happen amazingly quickly. 1 second everything is fine and normal the next wallop, you're airborne.

You're memory of the event will come back.

Don't sucker for the kitchen. Get the new model...either the Multi or the one pictured above by Dave.

Your partner won't approve of either...Tough decision.

  15. Get a track bike!

  16. Shit, GWS. Just don't commit to anything.

  17. Shitter, GWS and I hope your misses is ok.
