Brands Hatch race three years ago - just found the pictures on my computer again. We both came out OK. His bike snapped the frame. My 900SSie was a little battered! Fuel tank bounced of the Hornet leaving a nice red mark on his fork leg. Its still there - I own that bike now also (but dont tell anyone here!!). It was rebuilt and running just over a week later. These are pictures from the end of the incident that started part way around the last bend and my bike had been most of the way up the fence before falling back.
frankly, i'm happy for you it's just this.. i feared your trackdays company already had gone up in smoke for some odd reason like bikes being nicked or so...
That would be a small inconvenience!! - no just found a set of old pictures that made me reminice. Mainly about seeing blue, green blue green etc. The tank still needs t-cut (ask any one who had hired the bike) the frame was a little tarnished by the split battery spilling a little acid (another reason for using non acid batteries. There is also a tyre print in the top yoke kept for posterity.
Clearways? The corner concerns me a little and thats only on trackdays. I feel far comfier riding the bike down through Paddock Hill Bend
My first UK ride on a DD bike saw me off at Clearways on a TD, caught a guy on a blade after a being out a few laps and tried to go round the outside there, I knew it wouldn't stick given he had 100+ additional HP to wind on down the straight but I was carrying more cornerspeed when the track dropped away quickly followed by the front wheel LOL, brand new and I mean brand new leathers also. Happy days.
I dont mind clearways - I do like Paddock hill. This tumble was caused by the other chap trying to get underneath at the apex - he went on the grass fell of and then collected me. The first I knew was when I noticed I was sliding down the track on my elbow!
