Somewhere To Go From Bristol?

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by camelfarmer, Oct 31, 2016.

  1. I live in fishponds (just by the m32 and ring road) in Bristol. I don't commute on the bike now and like to use the bike a couple of times a week to keep it going, even in winter. I'm struggling to find any 1 -1.5 round trip rides around here though. The ring road and motorway are alright for going fast in a straight line but everything else seems to be terrible road surfaces, impossible corners cause of hedges and tractors or traffic. Any ideas?

  2. Why not head south towards Taunton or north towards the Cotswolds. Either fast flowing or tight nadgy roads.

If you come north let me know

  3. If you head up to Hereford I can always put on a coffee and bacon buttie and check your bike over

  4. Across the bridge and into the Forest of Dean, up to Monmouth via Tintern and beyond to visit DB and her welcoming cuppa or Chepstow to Usk and then onto Abergavenny bus station (Oasis tea stand) or the Steel Horse Cafe.

  7. Yep. No contest. Into Wales via Chepstow. Take the B4235 towards Usk . Go and get lost for 45 mins then head back. Or plan a circular route starting on the 4235...can't really go wrong

Any good? I guess that's a day out from Bristol?

  9. I've done very similar from home, its a nice days ride

  10. Yep that would be good. If you can get up to Builth Wells then round the Caban-coch reservoir that's beautiful. Pick a nice day and go for it :)

  14. I'm just south of Bristol near Clevedon. Plenty of good roads over the Mendips. Take the A38 and hang a left over Blagdon Lake or Chew Valley. Go visit Cheddar and Axbridge and Burrington. Happy to come with you on a nice Sunday morning!

  20. Out in mid Wales on Thursday if you're interested in skiving off work some more. Destination dependant on a mate I might be meeting up with at Crossgates if he can make it. Otherwise Herefordshire, Hay-on-Wye, Abergavenny or similar. Company possibly 996 and VFR plus my MV, could just be me though.
