Friday night went for a blast with mates. Coming down hill to a large roundabout, bike gave out a large backfire and made about 30 people jump. Strangely now, the bike sounds louder and much throatier. Any ideas what could have happened?
Im thinking I may have blown the baffles in the zard cans? I did change the plugs a few weeks ago, hopefully i did tighten them sufficiently. I assume if it was a loose plug it would be pretty obvious though.
guess you better check em although i think they would make a chuff chuff noise if loose and leaking around the plug.
Yeah thats what I was thinking Finm. I had filled up about 10 miles earlier with the high octane stuff but not sure this would cause it had it been iffy? No other restrictors within the exhaust on a 1098 then? Just the baffles in the aftermarket zard cans? Could a sensor have gone on the exhaust as to me it seems to be suddenly running rich, gargling more on over run etc and much more raspy when revved. Don't get me wrong, it sounds well but not as it did before the backfire. No warning lights on dash though.
