Have to get up at 3.30am tomorrow because at 6.40am I will be on the ferry to Calais then on to Nice. I have fingers crossed re the weather and have upgraded my AA cover to European, but hopefully it won't be needed. Have done the trip before on a speed triple so hopefully the Mutley will be more bearable. Have put on a MRA touring screen and along with the Schuberth S2 things seem ok but only time will tell. Hopefully I will be able to post a glorious report when I get back stating that the Mutley is the best bike I've ever owned etc before getting the coolant changed or any other recalls that have cropped up. Bon voyage for now
Mr Chainsaw, I don't give rats chuff about Nice. The roads on the way down are pretty damn good though.
is there a special bike route? guessing its not the route I just got off Google Maps? (mainly tollroads) (it's Dr Chainsaw actually :wink
Route Napoleon my dear Dr. How you get to the start point is the fun bit of planning each year. Having said that you could just programme the tardis.
Have a good trip & on your return post a comment on how the Schuberth S2 lid performs, was thinking of one of them myself
Cheers for the send off and the bikes all loaded up with luggage. Meeting a couple of the group on the M25, one has flown back from Nice where he now lives near to ride his 1098s down. Yes Ojobear we normally ride down to Macon and then onto the Route Napoleon, hence fingers crossed for no rain. Will try to take some pics and post them when I get back.
Enjoy mate, ride safe and take loads of pictures. Planning on doing something like this myself next year, that is if the bike hasn't corroded / exploded / stopped etc etc!
Don't be such a pessimist, or last hope it explodes in the south of France so you can have an extended holiday. Everybody thought I was mad taking a Ducati to Morocco and out to the desert, not the big cities, it survived and there wasn't a Ducati dealer in the whole country and the RAC/AA wouldn't cover me.
