Sp Or Standard

Discussion in 'Hypermotard' started by SimonT, Aug 9, 2015.

  1. Thinking of getting a Hypermotard as an every day bike. Any thoughts on the two models - is the SP worth the extra wonga?

    Cheers

  2. uninformed and biased opinion here, I've not ridden the standard model, but looking at them side by side in the showroom the SP is noticeably taller, so that would be something to consider, plenty of threads on here about that.

I reckon the SP is a better bet with the adjustable suspension and lighter wheels, ( i think the engines are basically the same and the rider modes the same but with different names) not sure I'm a good enough rider to actually tell the difference but its nice to know you have the options of tuning the suspension...

as an everyday bike I can most certainly recommend it, 9000 miles this year (and counting) some full days in the seat too, really can't fault it

and if you can get the dealer to throw in the high-level termi can too, definitely worth it.

  3. Hi Dave - thanks for the info - I'm 6'1" so hopefully not an issue - I'll pop to my local dealer and see what they have.

  4. ;)

  5. It's worth the extra just for the way it looks compared to the standard IMO, I love my sp and although I don't ride it to its capability the amount of people that comment on it makes up for the overtime needed to pay for it

  6. Ditto Diavlo, I got the SP over the standard simply because for me I preferred the look of it.

  7. I like the SP but it's too expensive and too tall for me.
I bought the standard Hyper and loving every minute I ride it it's such a fun bike and handles really well. After riding sports bikes for so many years (still have the 748R) it's been a revelation.

  8. I am almost 6.1, and I bought the SP. I still think it's tall and sometimes I wish I could lower it a bit.
other than that the other day I was looking at a standard one, and the SP is so much sexier :) but I doubt you can notice the performance difference in London - I just bought the SP because I had a really good deal going otherwise I would have probably gone with the standard

  9. Thanks for the advice but I just couldn't get on with the seat height so went for a monster instead. I hope you all enjoys your toys.
