Spare key

  1. Something I found really useful when using my MTS is to have a spare key which can be used for petrol, top box, seat access and panniers. This means the electronic key never needs to leave my inside zipped pocket. I got a new one supplied and cut by Guardian Security in Exeter this week. Hope useful! key.jpg

  3. Interesting...

Buy a bike with keyless ignition then buy a separate key so instead of carrying one, now you can carry two keys every where you go!!

  4. This is not a Goldwing with central locking, so you still need to take out your key to get your Coke from the top box  So why not have a cheap key on your house key chain to open the boxes, so you can leave the expensive handsfree ignition key in its pocket?

  5. I ended up buying a Ducati spare "Red" key as I couldn't find anywhere which could supply a generic key blank.

I wanted a spare "dumb" key so that when I left it in the seat or panniers lock no one could unlock the steering and start the bike . I say when as I have left the key in a lock a number of times, including overnight outside a hotel.

Iain, where did you get the key blank? I tried loads of locksmiths and none had one in stock or could get one.

  6. You can go to your local Ducati Dealership and order this one:

  7. Hi Steve,

I got mine at Guardian Security in Exeter for £15. They had to look through a couple of catalogues and the serial number ZA14 is on the key as shown in the photo. I think it was listed under Aprilia motorcycles.

They cut it on a clever laser device.
