Just had a spare key cut (no embedded chip) for the petrol tank/pannier/seat release. No issues, the key works well. As mentioned below Timpsons policy is, they won't cut them if they don't supply them, other outlets will. Where I took it they scanned the original and it produced a Ducati key Code number on their computer and they cut it from that. Obtained the blank off 'fleebay'. Spare Key blank
Got a blank key for my 1200 from my dealer and my local boot repairer cut the key. Spoke to him before Christmas and he has agreed to cut one for the V4 PP. Not all high street key cutters will cut a key they have not supplied, Timpsons springs to mind. This topic was a post on here several years ago. Andy
One of the first things I do after leaving my bike in central London all day with the key in the seat lock! (And on another occasion riding 25 miles home with it in the seat lock as well). There was also a guy on eBay who can cut a spare from a photo.
The eBay photo spare works very well. I got one done for my 996 as a spare as it only had one key. Worked perfectly and a very good reason never to post a picture of your keys.
When ever I tour, I only take my digital key (with the fold out physical key), but it scares me to my core when I am rushing around in a hotel trying to find it Would love to have one snuck into my tank bag and my digital one safely secured on my persons at all time. I already ordered a blank (thanks!).
