Speeding Ticket

  1. IMG_2227.jpg Speeding ticket through the post. 68mph on a 70 road, but in the van, so you can only do 60.
But a motorhome of under 3.05 tonne can do 70. Yeah thats fair.

Anyway, point of post. Just look at the paragraph, with the circled words. Nominate a driver they say. NOMINATE! They clearly dont care who pays, as long as someone pays.
Well done, no wonder we respect the law so much.
    Thanks

  2. You are a criminal :Wideyed:

  3. Typical of the sloppy way official documents are written these days, I'm afraid... The people who create them don't actually understand the meaning of the words. It's all a product of the "it doesn't matter what they write as long as you can understand what they mean" method of education.
Last time I had one of these, which was a few years ago, I amused myself for a couple of weeks by pointing out all the grammatical errors in the official paperwork. In the end I got a very stroppy letter from the chief constable's office. It probably didn’t achieve anything beyond my amusement but I’m willing to bet that the time they wasted on it cost more than I paid for the fine.
Having said that, I think you're probably correct in that they really don't care who pays, as long as someone does...

  4. They expect someone to pay the penalty, but it is misleading to say they "don't care who pays". Chris Huhne MP thought no-one would care if he nominated his wife to take the penalty for him. Both Mr and Mrs Huhne ended up in jail for perverting the course of justice.

Basically anyone who conspires with their wife to pervert the course of justice is ill-advised to divorce her for a younger model later on.

  5. Personally, i dont think they do care who pays, but if someone is reported for perverting justice, what can they do other than act accordingly. Would they have cared if the case went unreported? I doubt it. I just wish I could 'nominate' someone else for the points or speed course. Any takers?

  6. Thanks, but if you don't mind I will decline your kind offer...

  8. they are when your trying to earn a living, may take the points yet. its points v's money! now if the course was free......

  9. A decent payment to someone's racing fund could see them happy enough to take a speed awareness course maybe. Something in the region of £2k would do it I reckon

  10. I get that, was trying to put a positive on it, I made the most out the day I could.

  18. I was stopped on the M6 on Thursday night, the Police followed me for 3 miles doing between 92 and 98mph. After checking my license and the car details they said .... On you go sir, take it steady. Have to say I was gobsmacked but absolutely the right decision imo. It was 11:30 at night with little traffic, perhaps I won't be so lucky next time ?
