A mate of mine is looking to buy a 1260, and has asked me to stick a couple of questions on here. Relates to a 2018/19 1260 model (basically where his budget fits). There are 2 OEM types he’s found. 1 set with a silver body (earlier type) & 1 set with a black body (later type). Aesthetically, the black ones would suit the ‘lines’ better but the lens is quite small; the silver ones appear to have a better lens but being silver, doesn’t suit the colour scheme (I know, a bit tarty!). He can’t find any info re: lumen output of the 2 types, or any decent front facing photos of the lights so as he’s building a wish list, is a bit in the dark as to which type would ultimately be the best/brightest with a functioning spread beam of light that would be effective in the day/night. Can anyone advise?
Dunno about the black ones but I've got the silver ones on my 1200 Enduro and they're really good ...
I’ve had both and whilst the black ones might look neater and better the older silver ones are a lot brighter (and still look pretty neat).
On a ride a week ago I had several riding buddies say that the ones I have, silver earlier version, make the bike very noticeable. I use them as daylight running lights in the main, though they do add some spread to the already excellent LED headlights.
Very different lights, the newer black ones are much smaller. These are the new black ones. These are the older Silver ones.
SNAP! I don't think you get a decent relative impression on how effective the spot lights are without a head-on view. Also different lighting conditions will give a somewhat different impression.
Feel free to join DOC Surrey or Sussex and he can see my 1260PP with the fog lights. They are great, but, I don't do much night riding. Also if its of interest its going shortly as a PX against V4PP, but happy to sell privately.
I think I might know that person and yes IMO, the silver ones are far brighter and have a wider field of light spread. I also painted them black and they looked brilliant........
