Well it won't undo I've tried everything , in gear , rear brake on, wheel down , long bar on the socket.... aaaaaAaAAAAAAARGH!!! ...all I wanna do is change the front 15 to a 14 ..... I now just wanna bludgeon it to death ,with a lump hammer HELP
Strip your clutch out and fit a locking tool, then get a big 3/4" socket & breaker bar. Put the bike in gear & give it sweat.
I have recently become converted and got one of these :- Clarke CEW1000 240V ½" Electric Impact Wrench - Power Tools, Impact Drivers & Wrenches, Impact Wrenches - Electric to do a very similar job on a H@nd# and it worked very well to my utter amazement. Although you can still 'go through the motions' by putting bike in gear etc, it reacts so quickly that you hardly need to. Undid a pulley nut on a 2 valve head recently and didn't even restrain the camshaft.
Err , locking tool? Nope..... Strip the clutch ??? Err nope .... Not a clue ..... But I make a cracking improvised claymore mine?
137 lb/ft never felt so tight eh m8....I'm guessing you straightened the lock washer first tho! A windy gun is definitely the way to go....air or electric. Anth
Yeah she mentioned the big hammer for the small nail.... Feck i've just looked at the price of an electric impact gun.....you can nearly get an air compressor and accessory kit for that.....and you can blow your tyre up too. I didn't realise they were that expensive. I use my compressor once in a blue moon but it was one of those purchases that are worth it in the long run. Anth
Ride your bike down to a tire fitters and ask them to loosen it with the air gun, then nip it back up tight enough to get home and job done. Steve.
Picked up an impact wrench similar to this from maplins fo £10. Best £10 I've ever spent on a tool. Brian
For £50?.. if I had the space it would be an air compressor every time - the Clarke gun I gave a link to is a tidy, much cheaper alternative but hey, each to their own.
Sealey Cordless Electric Impact Wrench 24V 1/2" Sd 410lbft Wheel Nut Gun CP2450 | eBay That was the sort of thing I was looking at and yeah a small compressor and tool kit would be in that kind of range. Anth
Used mine to remove the alternator nut the other week, it's not pretty and not a brand name but it gets the job done.
I included a link to the very one I bought Anth - maybe you didn't see it. I couldn't find an air compressor equiv for £50, could you?
No not at all m8, I'd already been looking at the expensive electric ones n thought they must all be around that price, till I followed your linky
Genius idea! Got one of these lined up on eBay... IMPACT GUN 12V RAC wrench kit sockets ratchet torque car spare wheel caravan | eBay
Butch i did it using the Dp stand (which has a bar to lock rear wheel) and standing on the rear brake too. You need a decent length bar on the socket though, a normal socket wrench ain't gonna cut it.
