Hello all, I have a 2014 monster 1200S. It's a great bike and really enjoying it. I went for a ride today and when I was nearing the end of my trip I started to hear a squeak-like noise. The noise is noticeable at low speeds and no throttle. When I finally got home, I walked the bike around my driveway and noticed the noise coming from my front wheel/rotor. I lined up the "problem point" of my rotor to the brake caliber and slowly rolled the bike and that was exactly where the sound is coming from. There is a small vibration coming from my rotor when a certain part of the rotor lines up with the caliber. Any ideas as to what this could be? Thanks
KTM Superdukes are notorious for groaning front discs. Mine does it. I assume it has to be very sight warping. I say very slight because I've spun the wheel against a fixed marker and I couldn't detect any warping by eye. I never hear anything when the bike is being ridden, only when wheeling it at walking pace. KTM stopped replacing discs under warranty a while ago because there were too many of them and it wasn't affecting braking performance or safety. Maybe Ducati are replacing theirs. Ask your dealer. Some people (on KTMs and Ducatis) have reported juddering from warped discs. That's definitely a replacement issue. Seems to be Brembo problem.
Thanks for this. Yeah I'm only hearing it when rolling at slow speeds. Not just when walking it but I'm guessing anything under 10mph. I bought this bike from a local dealer 2 months ago, do you think the dealer will cover it. I got it with about 2500 miles on it.
You can only try but hasn't the warranty expired now? Even with warranty, if braking performance is uneffected I think you'll struggle.
