hey guys my dad gave me his ducati ST2...its been sat in the garden uncovered for 4 years...with some new plugs and oil and a hell of a clean on the fuel tank and some fresh petrol...she is alive! but i have no stripped it down as i want to naked it up as the sport tourer look is not for me! the front end can wait for now, but for the back end im thinking modifying the frame to fit a 916 subframe as the current back end is horrid! im fairly new to this and dont have a clue if it would work! would be paying someone to weld as i dont know how! anyone tell me it wont work before i even try? Mike
If you're cutting and welding anything will fit! It just depends on how much you want it and how much you want to spend!
there is no time frame for this bike to be up and running so if its not on the road until summer 2015 it doesn't matter maybe the question is, it wont be a show bike or anything so is it worth the effort and the cost, would there be a simpler way of getting the back end looking nicer. as the st2 fairings and lights are pretty horrid! ( apologies to any st2 fans ) my imagination can run wild but i have no clue as to how to go about any of it...and would like to learn from people who know or have done such modifications Mike
As nick says you can do anything with a little effort, a 916 rear end could look a little small though if you are keeping the stock front fairings, maybe a supersport rear end would look good? That way you wouldn't have to muck around with the cans... If you want some inspiration for what can be done with a ST have a hunt for PHILLIPOs project
