Hello After bringing the ST2 home last week - it seems I have been cursed. Coming back from a few days in Pembrokshire, I noticed when I put it up on the centre stand that there was a spray of oil on the rear wheel guard. Feeling a bit deeper inside, I found that there was oil around the top of the shock and this morning I found that the oil was coming off the centre stand, which when folded up, is directly below the shock. So the question is - what brand/type should I get for a replacement? Any suggstions would be grand before I spent yet more money on her (along with a scotoiler replacement head unit, replacement brake lever and a paint job on the side fairing from some **** knocking it over in the carpark this week in Tenby).
Treat yourself and but a maxton or nitron. Or if you can get one a remote preload ohlins from an st4s (I think should fit)
I'm pretty sure (90%) I had an st ohlins in my carby monster for racing. In which case that opens up all the older hoop type monsters Worth a Google search
The standard showa units can be refurbished and revalved. Heard good things about mtc suspension but never used them myself.
I know a guy who is a specialist at suspension builds, done mine and fantastic, based Alton-Winchester-peters field way. Drop you is number if you like
I think I still have an Ohlins shock from the ST4s project in the garage. I can check tomorrow if you like.
Hello Already fitted I'm just away up in Snowdonia Parc for a week or so and will let you know how she feels when I get home next week
Make sure your wheels are properly balanced. Badly balanced wheels are the quickest way to kill your suspension.
