ST4 fairing panels

  1. Hello again, do you know if the ST4 fairing panels stayed the same throughout the years? I have a 2000 ST4 with a crack on the mid right panel and have a possible replacement from a 2004 ST4S. They replacement looks as though the cut out opening may be a bit bigger, or it might just be the picture angke !
    Hope you can help

    Thanks again

  2. Difficult to say without photo, but there is a separate part that fits into the slot,so that could be what you mean,as far as I know the fairings all stayed the same until the new 2005 MY models. Also if you drill a tiny hole at the end of the crack it will stop it getting any bigger.

  3. Thanks Michael, i'll try drilling a hole to stop it. Just want it to last this year. I'll have it repaired properly over the winter then.

  4. Yeah, the fairing panels between ST4 and 4s were the same until the facelift models of 2004.

After you have drilled a tiny hole to stop the crack spreading, why not weld the crack in the panel from the inside using a soldering iron.

It's not difficult to do, and you can get some excellent results with a little bit of practice. Check out some u tube vids on technique.

  6. Peanut butter lids are the choice for welding I am told.

  7. Not just any old peanut butter lid. Tesco's 'everyday value range' is the material of choice!
