Before I start dialing in the suspension (manual suspension) to suit my weight and riding does anyone have the default suspension settings, assume these would be similar to the previous model, if someone has either could you mail them to me as the manual is sadly lacking in this info and it's always good to know if case I wAnt to put it back to factory settings.
The default suspension settings are in the manual towards the back. I have increased the preload to set the sag and adjusted the rebound on the forks but not touched the back as the set up from factory suits me.
Thanks Pavo Indeed they are on page 271, didn't look to hard originally as some of the pages are already starting to come out !!!
Having picked up my ex demo standard Multi DVT yesterday I went to check through the suspension settings. They were all over the place! The info in the manual however is not clear. There is no mention of front preload so I don't know what the standard setting should be, comp and rebound are now set correctly. On the rear, the preload talks about an 18 mm measurement, which I follow, but surely clicks would make more sense, and the adjuster under the seat, (can't remember whether that's comp or rebound now) but it should be one and a half clicks out, but there are no clicks, so turns? I know I can spend the next six months playing with it til I'm happy but has anyone made a list of settings as a start point?
Just had my suspension set up, I'm 95kg kitted and these are the settings that were put in: Front- Preload - 13 turns in from fully out Rebound - 6 clicks out from fully in Compression - 6 clicks out from fully in Rear - Preload - 15 turns (clicks) out from fully in Compression - 1.5 turns out from fully in Rebound - 8 clicks out from fully in They said that the fork springs are at their limit for me, so much preload that they spring back to fast for the rebound to control, I need stiffer springs to calm it down, the rear they said was ok, if pillion and luggage add 2 turns of preload (I reckon more) and 2 clicks of rebound. I found a difference after they set this up, the front and rear feel more connected, it handled well before the changes and even better now. I think I'll opt for the stiffer front springs at some point as I think that will sort it nicely. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Mate, take it to a specialist, give em 50 quid, set it up just for you, they measure static/loaded sag etc etc, worth the money I reckon, had my ZZR14 done after BST carbon wheels were fitted as it upset the bike to start with, went to More Speed in Bournemouth, had it set up properly, bike is totally transformed. Would have paid double for the hour he spent fiddling.
I was about to get mine setup by Road & Race Performance in Coventry, but the right fork seal is weeping, so I need to get that sorted first.
I got mine done by the Ohlins technician (even though it's not Ohlins) at P&H in Crawley, transformed the bike.
I’ve just checked my standard settings and the rear preload was 47 clicks out!!! The compression was 3! Wtf? Anyway, before I go buy a 22mm socket to check the front preload, any ideas how many lines should be showing? I have 3 showing (it’s set on the 4th).
It’s not in the owners or workshop manual. Standard settings for the rear and both comp/rebound for the front but no pre load. Bloody Ducati’s. Woods say they’ll email Ducati to ask. But if any of you know, I’d appreciate it.
So, let me understand this right, you Ducati dealer doesn’t t know the standard settings on abike they have been selling for years?!
If it’s like the S version (can’t see it would be much different for springs on preload) I would wind all the way out then add the half turn (or whatever it is) per 15kg of dressed rider weight, then back out half a turn and try that.

In my manual, it may be hidden somewhere, but it does mention how to adjust the preload. And where it mentions it, it also says how many turns per 15kg. Worth another check: I am referring to my 2013 bike, but my DVT is the same
Page 271-274 in the 1200 DVT manual, descibes standard rear and front comp/reb but not preload. http://www.ducati.com/cms-web/upl/d...16.pdf?forceContentDispositionAttachment=true
The 2013 manual says the standard pre load setting is fully screwed in (counterclockwise). Doesn’t mention anything about turns vs 15kg increments.
Have you got a DVT or a 2013 bike? I think its in the S model DVT manual, I couldn't find ot in the link I put up to the standard DVT bike.
I’ve got a 17 DVT but found an online standard 13 manual after the thread talked about that. My dealer doesn’t know. They asked Ducati uk. Who didn’t know. Surely they’ve replaced a fork on a DVT? Shows that some dealers wouldn’t check a trade in bikes settings and reset to stock. Surely there’s been a fork replaced sometime and someone checked? Or did they just guess? It’s quite disturbing really.
The link I added above should be the 2016 DVT standard bike. It gives standard settings, just not front preload. DVT S riders use what I posted IIRC 1/2 turn for each 15kg weight from full out (ie softest)
