Got my 2013 MTS 1200S Touring in July, done 2K mls on it now and still finding the seat a bit on the firm side after a couple of hours (rider & pillion). Looked at the 'comfort' seat option but I gather it is only re-contoured not any softer, plus the fake carbon look side panels look a bit tacky to my eyes. Am I right in thinking the Granturismo has a different seat, I know it has the red stitching (which would look great on my red mutley) and I've read some Ducati blurb that says it's supposed to be more comfortable, but a load of dosh wasted just for some red stitching if there's no or marginal improvement to comfort. (Tried gel pad cycle shorts .... cheaper than new seats, they help but not an ideal solution). Has anybody done a direct comparison between Granturismo and standard seats?
Hi Col I will give you a definate answer after the 8th Oct when I pick up my GT...I'm hoping its going to be as comfy as a velvet cushion! Not that I think the standard one isn't comfy. Vj
I don't have the GT , but I am sure a quick call to a dealer would let you know. On my 2013 ABS I was experiencing butt ache after 45 mins in the saddle and thought it would get better as it broke in. I got to the 2k mile point and decided to change them out for the Sargent units as things were not improving. It was an instant cure with no brake-in required. I had all day comfort finally. I never understand why machines aimed at the touring segment even offer upgraded seats and windscreens as options. It should be developed and equipped for all day comfortable from the off, not as an option. The very nature of offering "comfort" seats/screens as options is an admittance the default units are not up to the task , surely ?
I have a gt, but I haven't ridden a standard!it seems comfy for me but unfortunately I can't give you any comparisons !
Totally agree, don't see them calling the standard one a "pain in the arse" seat. I'm sure they'll tell us we all have different tastes.....but we don't get the option to choose when buying the bike.
Don't waste time on different seats, invest in an Airhawk. Best money I have EVER spent on any bike. All day comfort
...non stop to Canterbury from my place is 285m, I've done this trip a few times only to stop for fuel after 158m full tank. I can confirm standard Multi seat is good. Try riding 848 with superpole seat I can barely last 2.85 miles before I wanna get off' good fun tho! vj
