The starter clutch on my Multi Enduro 2016 has broken - the PLASTIC cage holding the clutch parts has disintegrated - is there a METAL cage alternative?
If you visit a local bearings supplier/specialist with the part, they will be able to match it and supply what you need
Certainly all the older bikes have metal cages, and the same one fits lots of models: https://www.stein-dinse.biz/product_info.php?products_id=186269 I wonder if the size is different?
I have an old metal cage one from my 1098 - if you want I can send it to you/measure it to see if at least it’s the same dimensions?
That could be more promising RickyX, SD list the 1098 one for a whole range of later bikes: https://www.stein-dinse.biz/product_info.php?products_id=177605
I don’t necessarily subscribe to the “plastic bad, metal good” view, as these cages are under a low load, and should be sacrificial when something else major fails in the assembly, and reduces damage to a number of other areas where metal shrapnel is bad for short and long term. Like the main bearings. That said, this is likely to be the replacement item - but do your own checks.
if you type in 70140501A (i.e. - same as 2016 Multi Enduro) on here then will see sprag list:- https://www.bike-parts-ducati.com/ducati-motorcycle/assignment_spare_parts but still not confirming steel alt.
@ST3phen, do you remember the job that you do to remove the sprag clutch back at those days? was it a nasty job or an easy one? Thanks.
