starter switch not working?!? 748

  1. Hello all,

just been out today for my 1st proper ride out of the year, it was good fun.

At the start of the day the starter switch worked fine-1st press would fire the bike up. But during my ride out the bike wouldn't start when I pressed the start switch, I tried it several times and the it fired up and then later on when I went to start my bike the switch wouldn't work at all, so I had to bump start my bike. Ive tried the starting the bike now at home but the switch doesn't even make a sound-it does push in fully tho.

Any suggestions as to a cause and solution to the problem?

    Thanks in advance.

  2. First place I would look would be the solenoid.

  3. The little two pin white plug fits between the two power
cables on the rear of the start solenoid down on the right side of the
battery check it hasn't come loose/off.

  4. Same problem with my monster evo. took right switch gear off to have a look as button seemed loose and not going in fully. Found the little spring had popped off its spigget on the back of
the button and the two terminals were corroded.
Took spring out and gave it a wee "stretch" to give it some more tension and it together ( not so easy  )
    No problems since.
