My 09 696 let me down first ride out 7 miles from home. No biggie the lovely wife collected me in our bike van. Ducati because there is always something to do? After some great help here and some probing the rectifier had packed up. Not the first and not the last on any brand of bike Hondas can be a sod for it as well. I found one in the workshop from a Yamaha and happy days it works again. As a precaution I replaced the large leads from the battery to starter and cleaned all the contacts to take the load off the rectifier/regulator. Predictably I chose to use the most excellent kit from Exige Justifiably well known on this forum and puts together one of the most comprehensive kits of parts I have seen for a while thanks . If anyone in the midlands wants some help doing it let me know. The only thing missing from the kits is spanners cutters for the cable ties and a brain! The rest is there in the box and you have to provide the other bits I run my own garage and workshop in birmingham so buying a kit like this for any vehicle is a big help and cost effective. So I took the Duck for a second run and it was much better as it didn't feel like I hit a wall every time I eased off the throttle and overall it was a much happier ride than last time which was a challenge with a dying bike running out of sparks! It even encouraged me to attempt some motogymkhana manoeuvres and that's when the toes of the boots got a good workout its quite easy to dig them on when turning. Note to self balls of feet on pegs and other balls against tank! Still tempted to make it a motogymkhana bike (it would be the only one in Europe and maybe the world) but finances may force me to sell before I could commit it to a life of jinking and spiralling. Watch this space.
I have used Honda bros 400 , mz125 sm , kawaski versys 650, suzuki gsxr600, and Honda cbr600 f for motogymkhana and regularly compete in Uk championship . I finished 22nd in the European championships in 2016. The Japanese are the masters but they invented the sport 30 years ago but many European riders are extremely quick . Its crazy addictive and stacks of cheap easily accessible fun.
