  1. hi guys after recent problems with my 916 electrics I have a starting problem .took a short video of what's happening after replacing most cables .battery and a burnt out starter which could of been caused by this .anyone got any ideas.

  2. No video Duke

  3. struggling to get video on as to big file

  4. At least 50% chance that @Exige Exact Start leads might be needed...

  5. change cables for thicker core .should be OK when turnover seems to not get past highest part of compression.

  6. Duke, your post makes no sense

  7. starter cables have been changed for thicker cables.when I press starter button engine tries to turn over but stops before a full rotation .need video on really to see.

  8. Upload to youtube and share the link.

  9. When I saw this thread title I thought this is right up @Exige 's street..... he also sells starter cables.

  10. Have the belts been touched? Sounds like possible valve contact, I would be checking all the belt timing marks.
Can you turn the engine over by turning the rear wheel while in gear on a rear stand.
    Steve

  11. ye wheel turns and new belts replaced .I will check though.thanls

  12. Is there a loud noise which is not a click or a knock - sort of in between?

Starter sprag clutch bearing is a possibility.

  13. wheel turns by han
    .

  14. I know you got a new battery but have you checked its voltage to confirm it is good

  15. I meant when you press the starter button - is there a sort of 'machine gun noise' ?

  18. Did you put the bike in gear with the plugs out to eliminate compression and turn the engine over with the wheel?

  19. No.........You re on ignore.

Please can you give full, clear answers to the very knowledgeable people that are trying to help you.
One suggestion is that if you have changed the belts, then the valve timing could be wrong, meaning a piston and valve could be hitting each other, preventing the engine from turning over.
Responding by saying the wheel turns by hand is not clear enough. You need to say something like: Yes, I put the bike on a paddock stand and took the plugs out and put it in gear. The engine turns over nice and smoothly with no nasty noises.
If you don't provide full clear answers, more questions have to be asked.
