Steering Damper

  1. Hi All,
Had my bike for a while now and have never really done anything with the damper as it all feels nice to me. Is there some way it should be set up?

    Regards Steve

  2. My completely untrained opinion is - that in a nutshell it needs to be on the setting youre comfortable with in terms of it stopping the bike shaking its head, but not a pain in the RS at slow speeds when youre trying to manoeuvre.

When i bought my 1098S i put it on the lowest setting and worked up. It wasnt too bad for shaking its head to be honest as far as bikes go. I think i went about 4 or 5 clicks and left it.

If you dont notice yours getting in the way, and the bars arent trying to shake themselves free of your grip, id leave it mate.

  3. The whole reason for the damper is to keep things stable, if its doing the job for you, its set up correctly - leave alone!

  4. Cheers lads thats what I thought but I do like to have a little twiddle now and then. It all feels rock solid even under extreme braking so will leave well alone.

    Regards Steve

  5. Write down the setting it is on now.Go for a quick fiddle,if it ends up better......all good.If not you could put it back to how it was.BUT as has been said,if the bike feels good now then fiddle with something else.
