I am sure this may of been covered at some point but from anything I have read it's a bit hit and miss. Could I please have your verdict on the airfilter comparisons? I am currently running an Akrapovic full titanium system with the latest dealer racing EVO upmap, I understand the "R" model panigale runs the P08 Sprint filter as standard, so I trust that Ducati have faith in the quality. Anyone here opted for a P08 Sprint over the standard filter? If it's of no real world benefit or it sacrifices the reliability of the engine I won't bother adding one to the basket of goodies I currently have on evil bay. Thanks all, Look forward to your input.
A panel filter isn’t really going to make any difference. Certainly not anything tangible even if it did show .5 of a bhp on a dyno. Sprint make some decent stuff so I doubt you’d have any trouble. The general rule of thumb is, more airflow = more shit passing through. I’ve not really seen the stock paper elements to be particularly restrictive in the first place on bikes.
Any gains are marginal and maybe even plain old marketing bullshit, I installed the K&N washable and could not be happier. I can tell you how many time I thought about my air filter and performance at the same time... precisely zero times
Thanks for the replies everyone. Going to stick with the standard Ducati paper filters @ £40 a pop every couple of services, no big deal.
I've just swapped out my paper filter for the sprint, top end does feel a little more eager, but that could have been felt with just a new standard filter. Either way, from these pics it's clear there will be more air flow with the new sprint filter vs the used paper
The fact you can almost see through the sprint filter would be enough reason for me to keep to the stock one. That must let a whole lot of grit and dust into the engine - causing premature wear for what? Very minimal gains?
Going to be pretty hard for grit to get through this. It's the same filter as fitted stock to the superleggera / FE, this isn't the race version in the carbon surround. If it's good enough for Ducati to fit stock and warranty, it's good enough for me
Ah. Sorry. At first glance it looked like you coulld see through the filter in the first image. That’s what you get for looking at the forum on your phone! LOL.
